President’s Message for December 2025
Shift to NAMI Model B
The NAMI Central Middlesex board sent a letter to current members about a decision to change the status of our affiliate from a NAMI Model A independent 501c3 organization to a NAMI Model B. That letter, minus details about a past Zoom meeting registration, is copied below.
Letter to Central Middlesex Members
After much debate and soul searching, the NAMI Central Middlesex Board of Directors has voted our intention to dissolve the independent 501c3 non-profit charity status of NAMI Central Middlesex, Inc. and create the opportunity to reform the affiliate under NAMI’s Model B standard. As a Model B affiliate NAMI Central Middlesex would operate within a less formal structure under the umbrella of NAMI Massachusetts. This process will take about a year.
We know this is an unexpected development for our members and volunteers. We want to provide an opportunity for all to come together, ask questions, and discuss, so everyone fully understands our current situation. We are offering a meeting via Zoom on Monday, December 1, 7:00 PM. . .
. . . Over the last several years, we found ourselves struggling to continue to operate under the 501c3 standards. It has been increasingly difficult to fill board positions, as required under our bylaws, and to find volunteers to fill our community facing roles and behind the scenes support activities. Our current president, Lori Krinsky, is resigning as an active volunteer at the end of January.
Our affiliate’s Annual Meeting in January, where we elect a Board of Directors, will take place at the Edinburg Center in Bedford on Monday, January 26th. It will include a presentation from the M-Path Psychosis Referral program. The newly elected board will be responsible for paving the way for a Model B affiliate standard and taking the affiliate through the Massachusetts state 501c3 dissolution process with the help of legal counsel.
The NAMI Central Middlesex Board of Directors welcomes you to join us on December 1st via Zoom for the Model B/Dissolution discussion and/or on January 26th in person to celebrate the accomplishments of NAMI Central Middlesex.
Sincerely Yours,
The NAMI Central Middlesex Board of Directors

Volunteer Needs
With the transition, our most pressing volunteer needs include getting some help maintaining our website on the Squarespace platform. The number of webpages will be significantly reduced in February. We also need someone available to send simple email messages via Constant Contact. Many thanks. Contact us at nami.cmsx@gmail.com.
Candidates for the 2026 Central Middlesex Board of Directors
If you are up to date on your NAMI Central Middlesex membership dues, you may send in a vote, “yes or no,” to accept the slate of board candidates for 2026. Contact us at nami.cmsx@gmail.com. Alternatively, join us in person at our Annual Meeting in Bedford on the evening of Monday, January 26th. You can learn more about that event here: https://www.namicentralmiddlesex.org/newsletter/dec2025/save-date-annual-meeting-psychosis
